Makkah Defence Agreement Reflects Brotherhood Among Three Nations: Ishaq Dar

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said the Makkah Defence Agreement reflects the fraternal ties between the leadership and people of the three countries. In a post on X, Dar said the agreement was the result of years of consultations and engagement, aimed at strengthening cooperation to address emerging challenges to peace and security.

Dar clarified that the Makkah Agreement does not cancel, replace or alter any existing bilateral or multilateral agreements. He said an external attack on any one of the three countries would be considered an attack on all, giving the parties the right to collective self-defence under the UN Charter. He stressed that the agreement is entirely defensive in nature and is not directed against any country.

The deputy prime minister said the sole purpose of the agreement is to promote lasting peace, stability and prosperity in the region. He said the pact remains open to regional countries that uphold its fundamental principles and is fully aligned with Pakistan’s foreign policy objectives. Dar reaffirmed that Pakistan would continue working with all brotherly countries in the region for lasting peace and remained committed to the peaceful resolution of disputes and a peaceful future.
