Iranian weightlifting prodigy Mohammad Javad Beiranvand has dedicated his nine gold medals at the Asian Youth & Junior Weightlifting Championships to the country’s fallen soldiers, saying he hopes his future performances will bring pride and happiness to the Iranian people. The 16-year-old made history in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, by winning all nine available gold medals in the men’s 75-kilogram category while also setting three youth world records.

Speaking after his title-winning performance, Beiranvand said he felt immense pride seeing the Iranian flag raised on the international podium. “For an athlete, there is nothing greater than being able to make the name of his country proud at an international event,” he said, dedicating his achievements to what he described as the “innocent martyred soldier of my homeland.”

Beiranvand’s remarkable medal haul resulted from the overlapping youth, junior and Central Asian classifications of the competition. He secured three gold medals in the snatch, three in the clean and jerk, and three in the overall total, while expressing hope that he would continue delivering strong performances and “make the people of Iran happy” in future competitions.
