Indian Army Screens JAAC Videos Near LoC, Raising Questions Over Nexus

MUZAFFARABAD: Indian media and security forces have reportedly stepped up their support for the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, with videos linked to the group being shown near the Line of Control (LoC).

According to sources, videos supporting JAAC and its leaders were displayed on a large screen in the Keran sector, around 75 metres from the LoC, on August 13 and 14, coinciding with Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations.

Social media recording apparently displays Indian security recruits spreading content about the committee. Analysts have slated the development, saying it may contribute to anti-Pakistan sentiment and additional rinsing regional constancy.

Sources said the move came after people in Azad Kashmir celebrated Independence Day with enthusiasm and rejected what they described as anti-Pakistan and anti-India narratives. Analysts believe India’s decision to highlight JAAC-related content near the LoC reflects its growing interest in the group’s activities.

Authorities also cautioned that spending controversial local matters for political determinations could promote rise tensions along the LoC and harm regional peace.

According to them, India should focus on promoting peace, stability and the rights of local communities rather than encouraging narratives that could create further divisions.

The latest development has once again raised concerns about the use of information and media campaigns to influence public sentiment along the sensitive LoC.
