25 August, 2026 17:11

KARACHI: Authorities in Karachi have announced a ban on the entry of heavy vehicles into the city ahead of Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) to ensure smooth traffic flow and security for citizens.

Heavy vehicles, including dumpers, tankers and goods transport vehicles, will not be allowed to enter Karachi on 11 and 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal, which fall on August 25 and 26, 2026.

The restriction will remain in place from 11 Rabi-ul-Awwal until the night of 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal, according to the traffic police.

The ban has been imposed to facilitate citizens and prevent traffic disruptions during processions, rallies and other events held to mark the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

The traffic police spokesperson has urged owners and drivers of heavy vehicles, including goods transporters, dumpers and water tankers, to cooperate with the authorities and follow the restrictions.

Citizens have also been asked to follow traffic police instructions to help maintain a safe and smooth environment during the celebrations.

Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) is observed across Pakistan with religious gatherings, processions and rallies in honor of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The traffic restrictions are part of efforts to improve public safety and ensure convenience for citizens during the occasion.
