Pezeshkian Says US Economic Pressure Will Fail to Weaken Iran

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said the United States will not achieve its objectives through economic pressure, stressing that Iran will remain steadfast despite external pressures. He made the remarks during a meeting at the Central Bank of Iran, where he reviewed the latest monetary, foreign-exchange and financial indicators with Economy Minister Ali Madanizadeh, Central Bank Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati and a group of university economists.

Pezeshkian said the government’s economic institutions had anticipated measures to deal with the pressure campaign, which comes amid what he described as exceptional conditions caused by war, economic sanctions and external pressure. He argued that Washington had failed to achieve its objectives during the recent war despite the efforts of Iranian forces and public support, and would similarly fail to achieve its goals through economic pressure.

The president said Iran’s approach remained focused on resolving disputes through dialogue, interaction and negotiations while maintaining a firm position against economic pressure. He also praised government institutions and private-sector organizations for continuing what he described as an “economic jihad,” saying their efforts had helped meet people’s livelihood needs and maintain stability in the domestic market despite ongoing difficulties.
