Iran Poses Threat to Global Financial System: US Treasury Secretary

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has described Iran as a threat to the global financial system and said Washington will continue its financial pressure on Tehran.

Bessent said Iran would not be allowed to use the Strait of Hormuz as a weapon, while pressure would remain on key financial channels supporting the Iranian economy.

The US Treasury secretary also said that all individuals and entities providing financial support to Iran would be held accountable.

He added that the United States would not allow the global financial system to be disrupted or weakened.
