Pezeshkian Calls for Comprehensive Peace, Regional Unity in West Asia

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for comprehensive peace and security across West Asia, stressing that people of all religions, sects and ethnicities should be protected from war, violence and conflict. He made the remarks during a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

Pezeshkian said Islamic countries possess the ability to resolve their disputes through dialogue, cooperation and mutual understanding without foreign intervention. He maintained that greater unity and solidarity among Muslim states would strengthen the region and prevent external aggression, adding that Iran has consistently advocated collective action by Islamic countries.

The Iranian president also welcomed the recently signed Mecca Joint Defence Agreement between Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye, describing it as a step toward strengthening unity across the Muslim world. He expressed hope that more regional and Muslim-majority countries would join the pact and expand cooperation in defence, politics, economics and culture.

Pezeshkian expressed satisfaction over growing Tehran-Islamabad relations and thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz for attending the funeral ceremony for the victims of the US-Israeli war against Iran. He also appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in negotiations that led to a war-termination agreement between Iran and the United States, saying Tehran remained ready to implement the agreement provided the other side also fulfilled its commitments.
