MQM MPA Calls for Positive Politics and Smaller Administrative Units in Sindh

01 September, 2026 18:18

The Sindh Assembly session witnessed remarks from Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) MPA Taha Ahmed Khan, who said his party wanted to provide greater facilities and relief to ordinary citizens. He stressed the need for positive politics and said MQM considered itself a protector of all ethnic communities living in Sindh. Khan called for the creation of new administrative units in the country, arguing that smaller units could help resolve public problems more effectively. He added that all stakeholders would have to play their role in addressing the challenges faced by the people.

During the session, MQM MPA Muaz Mehboob said Sindh was one province but effectively operated under two different systems. Questioning the implementation of e-challan systems in Karachi and Hyderabad, he said greater authority should be given to elected mayors so they could address urban issues more effectively. He maintained that the demand was not aimed at dividing Sindh but at strengthening it through improved administration.

Mehboob said the creation of additional administrative units could strengthen Sindh by bringing governance closer to the people. He argued that empowered local governments and smaller administrative structures could improve service delivery and help resolve citizens’ problems more efficiently. The MQM lawmakers called for political cooperation and administrative reforms focused on addressing the needs of the people.
