Pakistan Vows to Continue US-Iran Peace Efforts Despite Fresh Escalation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace and diplomacy between the United States and Iran despite a fresh escalation in hostilities between the two countries.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan remained hopeful that dialogue and diplomacy could help reduce tensions, stressing that Islamabad would continue its efforts to facilitate peace.

“Despite recent escalations, we remain hopeful and we will continue to strive for dialogue and diplomacy,” Andrabi said during his weekly press briefing on Wednesday.

The spokesperson said the Field Marshal’s recent visit to Iran was part of Pakistan’s broader diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting regional peace and reducing tensions.

He described the visit as a reflection of Pakistan’s serious commitment to supporting diplomatic engagement and preventing further escalation in the region.

Pakistan has consistently advocated dialogue and peaceful resolution of disputes, particularly as tensions between Washington and Tehran risk creating wider instability across the Middle East.

Andrabi also confirmed that Pakistan will host the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit next year, highlighting Islamabad’s continued engagement with the regional grouping.

The upcoming summit is expected to provide Pakistan with another important platform to promote regional cooperation, connectivity, security and economic engagement among SCO member states.

The Foreign Office spokesperson also briefed journalists on progress in defence cooperation between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.

According to Andrabi, the three countries have agreed to further expand cooperation in the defence sector, including collaboration in defence industries, advanced technologies and defence production.

A joint secretariat representing the three countries will be established in Saudi Arabia under the leadership of a secretary general.

Initially, the secretary general will be appointed from Pakistan for a three-year term.

The trilateral cooperation is expected to create new opportunities for collaboration in defence manufacturing, technological development and the exchange of expertise.

The three countries will work to strengthen cooperation in defence industries and advanced technologies while exploring opportunities to enhance defence production capabilities.

The initiative could also contribute to greater technological cooperation and industrial development among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.

The developments highlight Pakistan’s expanding diplomatic engagement on both regional peace and strategic cooperation.

While Islamabad continues to push for dialogue between the United States and Iran, its growing defence cooperation with Saudi Arabia and Türkiye reflects its broader efforts to strengthen strategic partnerships with key regional countries.

Pakistan’s simultaneous focus on diplomacy, regional cooperation and defence partnerships underscores its stated objective of contributing to stability while protecting its own strategic interests.

As tensions between Washington and Tehran remain a concern, Islamabad has reiterated that dialogue and diplomacy remain the preferred path toward preventing further escalation and securing lasting peace in the region.
