IRGC Targets Three Oil Tankers in Strait of Hormuz

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says its naval forces targeted three oil tankers travelling through what Iran described as an unauthorised route in the Strait of Hormuz.

The IRGC also claimed it targeted three vessels linked to the United States in other areas. The announcement came after US forces struck three Iranian oil tankers following missile attacks on two US Navy warships.

In a statement carried by Iranian state media, the IRGC warned other ships against using routes that Iran has not approved. It said vessels making suspicious movements through the waterway could also be targeted.

The latest claims have not been independently confirmed by the US military. US Central Command had earlier said its forces struck three Iranian tankers, permanently disabling two and destroying a third vessel.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry also condemned the US strikes on the tankers, describing them as illegal and aggressive actions.

The developments have raised fresh concerns over shipping security in the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil supplies. The latest exchange marks another sharp escalation in the ongoing US-Iran conflict
