08 September, 2026 15:10

The eighth day of the September 1965 war saw intense fighting between Pakistan and India.

The Indian Air Force reportedly attacked civilian and non-military targets, including populated areas in Wazirabad, Chiniot and Sargodha, as well as hospitals and district courts in Sialkot.

The Pakistan Army responded and pushed Indian forces back from areas around Lahore and Sialkot. Pakistani forces also claimed to have disabled 21 Indian tanks in the Sialkot sector.

Pakistani troops captured Indian military equipment, while large numbers of people came out of their homes to show support for the armed forces.

The fighting caused heavy losses for Indian forces, while a road between Srinagar and Kargil was also reportedly damaged.

The Pakistan Navy also carried out an operation against the Indian naval base and radar station at Dwarka. After a 12-hour operation, the facility was reportedly heavily damaged.

The Pakistan Air Force also launched an attack near Halwara in the Ludhiana area, targeting Indian Air Force positions.
