Sonu Sood Reacts to Delhi Building Collapse, Urges Safer Student Housing

Actor Sonu Sood expressed concern over the building collapse in Delhi. The heartbreaking incident took seven lives, the actor requested authorities to be responsible for the loss and provide safer and affordable housing for students.

The actor took his X official and share a post on Tuesday, which he highlighted the problems faced by students who relocated to big cities to follow their education and career. He said Delhi has around seven lakh students, yet hostel accommodation is available for just 30,000 of them.

Sood advised that the government could use empty land near universities to form harmless and reasonably priced student hostels. He also wished-for giving universities extra permission to develop more accommodation on their campuses.

According to the actor, such a move could improve student safety while also giving parents greater peace of mind and creating additional revenue opportunities for universities and the government.

His comments came after a five-storey boys’ PG accommodation, known as “Hostel Daze,” collapsed in Delhi’s Satya Niketan area near Delhi University’s South Campus on Sunday afternoon.

As soon the incident happened immediately alerted fire services and within minutes the rescue teams reached at the location. As per reports, the building was operating as a student hostel and each room used by two to three student at the meantime.

The death toll has reached seven today, while rescue workers continued searching the debris for survivors.
