Ishaq Dar Reviews Sugar Stocks, Assures Adequate Supply

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee on Sugar to review the country’s sugar stocks and overall supply situation.

During the meeting, Ishaq Dar expressed satisfaction over the availability of sufficient sugar stocks in the country.

He noted that existing stocks, together with anticipated domestic production, would be adequate to meet national requirements well into the next crushing season.

The Deputy Prime Minister stressed the need for continued vigilance, effective coordination and timely action to maintain food security and market stability.

He directed the relevant authorities to closely monitor the supply situation and take necessary measures to ensure uninterrupted availability of sugar and other essential commodities at affordable prices.

The meeting also reviewed measures aimed at preventing supply disruptions and maintaining stability in the domestic market.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for Food, Minister for Information, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Secretary Food, Secretary Commerce and other senior officials concerned.

The government has reiterated its focus on ensuring adequate stocks of essential commodities while taking timely measures to protect consumers from unnecessary price pressures and supply shortages.
