Iranian Missile Attack Damages Eight US F-15 Jets in Jordan

WASHINGTON: An Iranian missile attack on a US military base in Jordan damaged several American fighter aircraft, with approximately eight F-15 jets sustaining minor damage, according to US media reports.

CBS News reported that the attack targeted Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, an important hub for US air operations in Jordan.

According to the report, around eight US F-15 fighter jets were damaged in the attack. The aircraft were later returned to service after repairs and assessment.

An A-10 Thunderbolt aircraft was also hit during the attack, with one of its wings sustaining significant damage.

US officials said there were no reported American fatalities as a result of the attack.

The incident highlights the growing vulnerability of US military installations in the region as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to intensify.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had previously announced that it targeted the US military base in Jordan with ballistic missiles.

Jordanian and US authorities said their air-defence systems intercepted a large number of the incoming missiles, limiting the damage caused by the attack.

However, the reported damage to multiple US aircraft indicates that at least some of the projectiles reached or affected the military facility.

Muwaffaq Salti Air Base is an important centre for American air operations in Jordan and hosts various US military aircraft.
