Malaysian PM Rejects Claims Linking Pakistan to Terrorism

13 September, 2026 16:39

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has rejected claims that Pakistan was involved in terrorism, saying there is no evidence supporting India’s allegations against Islamabad. Responding directly to an Indian journalist on the sidelines of the BRICS summit, Anwar said the Pahalgam incident had no established connection with Pakistan.

Anwar said that as prime minister, he could only speak on the basis of facts and assessments provided by Malaysia’s state institutions. He stressed that Malaysian intelligence agencies had not provided any report indicating Pakistan’s involvement in terrorism.

The Malaysian premier’s remarks came in response to questions concerning India’s allegations against Pakistan. Anwar reiterated that governments must base their statements on verified intelligence and evidence, rather than unsubstantiated claims, and gave a firm response to the Indian journalist during the BRICS summit.
