16 September, 2026 10:49

The ongoing social media backlash against YouTuber Rajab Butt’s controversial remark about Child abuse he made during a TikTok Live session with fellow digital creator Zaid Ali, Pakistani actress Sehar Khan joined and directly addressed Rajab over the remark, and sharing disappointment over the use of a sensitive issue as a source of humour.

Sehar took her Instagram and shared a video of her in which she said  “Mein ne abhi ek video dekhi hai Rajab saab ki aur honestly, shame on you.”

(“I just watched a video of Rajab, and honestly, shame on you.”)

She further highlighted Rajab’s massive audience and stress that having millions of followers also brings significant responsibility, given the influence his content can have on viewers.

She questioned, “Allah Ta’ala ne aapko itni izzat di hai, hazaron log aapko dekhte hain, aap se influence hote hain, aur ye aap logon ki zehniyat hai? Ye aap logon ke mazak ke level hain?”

(“Allah has blessed you with so much respect, thousands of people watch and are influenced by you, and this is the kind of mindset you have? Is this the level of humour you people find acceptable?”)

Sehar further questioned the wording saying that fame and success should come with a sense of responsibility.

“Shame on you. Sahi kehte hain, paisa insaan mein shaoor nahi la sakta,” she concluded, point toward that money and popularity do not necessarily reflect wisdom or maturity.

The controversy also upturned questions about the concern of influencers when talk over serious and sensitive subjects during open livestreams. Critics said jokes about child abuse can make light of the pain and trauma linked to such crimes.

Sehar’s response added to the criticism as she highlighted the influence public figures have over their large audiences and the responsibility that comes with it.

After the severe backlash, Rajab apologized for his remarks, and addressed about the joke ‘extremely Inappropriate” and “below the belt”. He accepted that the subject was too serious to be joked and his comments could have been painful for people with traumatic experiences.
