Salman Khan’s ‘Maatrubhumi’ Faces More Delay as CBFC Screening Remains Unclear

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s most anticipated movie ‘Maatrubhumi’ reportedly will be screened by the Central board of Film Certification (CBFC) next week have been denied.

As per Bollywood Hungama reports, there has been no update about the movie’s CBFC screening. According to the source, the film is still face problems due to its China connection, while the filmmakers are in talks with government officials to find a way forward.

Source further reported that, the film will be cleared by the CBFC before leading to cinemas after getting CBFC agreement. However there is no clear timeline yet, and the procedure could take some days or weeks.

Questions remain over whether Maatrubhumi will receive a theatrical release this year. If matter of CBFC approval will resolved soon, the movie maker try to release the film in 2026. However, the partial availability of theatrical slots could push the movie to 2027.

Initially titled Battle of Galwan, and revolves around the 2020 Galwan conflict involving India and China. It was eventually given the new title Maatrubhumi.

The project has also faced attention over concerns surrounding its content. Previous reports suggested that the Ministry of Defence had elevated complaints to certain parts of the film among fluctuating India-China relations.

For now, fans will have to wait for an official update regarding the film’s certification and release date.
