LAHORE: Citizens have started submitting applications through the online portal to obtain permission to celebrate Basant in Lahore, with around 2,500 applications received so far.

Deputy Commissioner Lahore Captain (Retired) Ali Ejaz said the relevant teams had begun physical verification of the applications submitted through the portal.

According to the deputy commissioner, guidelines have also been issued for citizens planning to celebrate Basant.

He said the boundary wall of any house where Basant is being celebrated must be at least three feet high.

An awareness campaign has also been launched to inform citizens about the rules and safety regulations governing the festival.

Ali Ejaz said inspection teams had been formed for the next stage of the process.

He explained that permits would be issued only after physical verification and inspection had been completed.

The administration is also working on arrangements related to the regulation of kite and kite-string sales ahead of the festival.

Authorities said further decisions regarding the sale and purchase of kites and strings would be taken in the coming months as part of the preparations for Basant.

The administration has urged citizens to follow the notified safety guidelines and complete the required permission process before celebrating the festival.
