Princess Diana Memoir: Four Copies of Charles Spencer’s Book Reportedly Stolen

Charles Spencer’s memoir about his late sister, Princess Diana has faced an unexpected setback, with four copies stolen from a delivery truck in the Netherlands shortly before the book’s official release, according to reports.

The 9th Earl Spencer is the author of Swan Song: Diana, My Sister is due to hit shelves on September 22. Reportedly, the memoir copies were being delivered to a warehouse in the Netherlands ahead of distribution when the driver stopped for the night.

The driver reportedly discovered the next morning that the truck had been broken into. Only four copies of Spencer’s memoir were allegedly taken during the incident. Dutch police are reportedly investigating the theft.

The memoir is expected to offer a personal look at Spencer’s relationship with Diana and his memories of his late sister. It marks the first time he has spoken openly and at length about their relationship.

Spencer has previously said that he wanted to share his perspective on Diana’s life and offer a positive tribute to her. He decided to write the book after receiving several requests for interviews as the 30th anniversary of Diana’s death approaches.

On September 11, Spencer shared a first look at the physical book on social media. He described it as his most personal book so far. He also revealed that he spent three days recording the audiobook.

Penguin Press will publish Swan Song: Diana, My Sister in the US and made available in 12 translated languages. Strong interest in the memoir has been reported ahead of its release, as preorders reportedly pushing it onto Amazon’s bestseller list.
