Pakistan Lodges Strong Protest Over Indian Navy Vessel’s Provocative Maneuvers

Islamabad: Pakistan on Wednesday summoned the Charge d’Affaires of the Indian High Commission and lodged a strong protest over what it described as a provocative and unacceptable action by an Indian Navy vessel in Pakistan’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) on September 15, 2026.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the incident occurred while the Pakistan Navy was conducting its biennial exercise, SEASPARK-26.

The ministry said the Indian naval vessel carried out maneuvers in dangerously close proximity to a Pakistani naval ship, resulting in contact between the two vessels.

Pakistan said the incident constituted a serious violation of international law and the 1991 bilateral agreement on Advance Notice on Military Exercises, Manoeuvres and Troop Movements.

The Foreign Office said the incident also carried the risk of increasing tensions in the region.

The Indian Charge d’Affaires was asked to convey Pakistan’s strong rejection of the incident to the Indian government. Pakistan also urged India to strictly adhere to international law and bilateral agreements, particularly those aimed at preventing incidents at sea.

The Charge d’Affaires of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi will also lodge a similar demarche with India’s Ministry of External Affairs.

Pakistan further called on the international community to urge India to refrain from actions that could contribute to instability in South Asia.

The Foreign Office stressed that the region could not afford further escalation and called for responsible conduct to maintain regional peace and stability.
