Macklemore Announces $1 Million Donation From Ed Sheeran Tour for Palestinian Aid
Macklemore has pledged $1 million from his Loop Tour earnings to six groups helping Palestinians. His announcement follows his removal from the tour amid controversy surrounding his comments about Palestine.
The rapper shared this emotional statement on his Instagram, which depicted that, he said his aim was to put the ongoing controversy aside and draw attention to the situation of Palestinians. And announced that the full $1 million of his net earnings from the tour would go toward supporting Palestinian communities.
The rapper also challenged Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots and Gillette Stadium, to match his donation. Macklemore’s call came after Kraft confirmed his involvement in the decision to prevent the rapper from performing at Gillette Stadium, citing concerns over Macklemore’s previous statements and rhetoric.

Macklemore said his focus remained on issues including freedom, dignity and safety for Palestinians. He also argued that financial aid alone cannot address the wider conditions behind the humanitarian crisis.
The controversy began after Macklemore expressed support for Palestine during performances on Sheeran’s tour. Sheeran later said the decision to remove Macklemore was made by the promoter rather than by him personally.
Following Macklemore’s announcement, Kraft said he would commit $2 million toward humanitarian aid in the region, while Sheeran also plans to contribute $2 million, according to reports.
