Hania Aamir Speaks Out Against Body Shaming and Online Scrutiny of Women

Pakistani actress Hania Aamir shared a great message in which she raised her voice against body shaming and unnecessary public attention on women, and urging people to stop treating women’s appearances and private lives as entertainment.

She took her Instagram and posted a detailed story which depicted the increasing trends of using women’s looks, bodies, age and personal lives as material for jokes and social media commentary.

She wrote, “In 2026, using women’s bodies, faces, appearances, age and personal lives as a punchline is ridiculous.”

Hania further spoke against the common excuse that controversial comments are merely opinions or harmless jokes.

“‘It’s my take’ is not a free pass. Neither is calling it humour,” Hania stated, adding that people can be critical or funny, but there is a clear distinction between commentary and turning “a woman’s existence into content.”

Hania more stressed that public figure and social media influencers have a significant reach, with their comments being seen and heard by large audiences. She wrote, “There are millions of people watching what we collectively decide is acceptable to say about women.”

Through the Instagram story, Hania depicted that words can continue to affect people long after an online post is forgotten, particularly when shared by influential people.

“You are shaping what other people think is normal, funny and acceptable,” she added.

The actress further said that audience reactions can also play a part, as likes, shares and views may encourage the very behaviour people speak out against.

“We cannot keep demanding better from society while simultaneously rewarding the very behaviour we claim to be against.”

Hania’s story clarified that women’s physical appearance should be respected rather than turned into a subject of public attention by stating, “Women are not public property. Their bodies are not public commentary. Their faces are not public discourse.”

Hania further requested social media users not to give more attention to content that humiliates, mocks or objectifies women and wrote, “Stop giving this kind of content your attention. Stop giving it reach. Stop making a spectacle out of women and calling it entertainment.”

To wrap up her message Hania reminding everyone to be more responsible, adding that… “We can do better than this.”

Hania’s remarks based on the discussion around Bollywood star Katrina Kaif’s appearance continued online. The actress faced public scrutiny over her appearance after back to the spotlight following motherhood. Some social media users commented on changes in her looks and weight.

A Pakistani entertainment commentator, Dr Ejaz Waris, also faced backlash over his remarks about Katrina’s look, with criticizers blaming him of body shaming the actress.

Hania’s post did not name Waris or target any individual directly, but its timing has led people to discuss it alongside the ongoing controversy.
