Pakistan hits 10 Afghan locations in response to recent drone intrusion by Taliban regime: Atta Tarar

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Atta Tarar has said Pakistan exercised its right to self-defence and carried out air and drone strikes on 10 locations in Afghanistan on September 23 after drones entered Pakistani territory from Afghan soil.

In a statement on X, Atta Tarar strongly condemned what he described as the deliberate and unlawful incursion of drones from Afghan territory, calling it a serious violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He said Pakistan’s air-defence systems detected all the incoming drones and destroyed them before they could reach their targets, completely foiling the attempted drone attacks from Afghan territory.

Pakistan Targets Drone Launch and Storage Sites

According to Atta Tarar, Pakistan exercised its right to self-defence and targeted 10 locations in Afghanistan that were being used to launch and store drones.

He said the targeted sites were directly linked to attacks against Pakistan.

The information minister said the strikes were deliberate, precise, proportionate and limited, and were confined to identified military targets connected with attacks against Pakistan.

Pakistan Warns Afghan Taliban Regime

Atta Tarar said Pakistan would not accept attacks originating from Afghan territory, whether carried out by terrorist groups or undertaken, supported or tolerated by the Afghan Taliban regime.

He called on the Afghan Taliban regime to immediately halt all hostile activities against Pakistan and take effective and sustained action against terrorist elements operating from Afghan soil.

The minister warned that any violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty would receive an immediate and decisive response.

Pakistan Ready to Defend Sovereignty

Atta Tarar said Pakistan did not seek an escalation and remained committed to regional peace, dialogue and constructive engagement.

However, he stressed that Pakistan’s commitment to peace should not be interpreted as weakness or as willingness to tolerate hostile actions indefinitely.

He reaffirmed that Pakistan would use all necessary means to protect its sovereignty, territorial integrity and citizens.

The information minister further warned that any additional provocative action by the Afghan Taliban regime would receive a strong and unequivocal response.
