Qatar Confirms Mediation Efforts to End US-Iran War

Qatar has confirmed that it is continuing diplomatic efforts to help end the ongoing war between the United States and Iran.

Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al Ansari said during a press conference in Doha that Qatar was passing messages between the US and Iran and working to reduce differences between the two sides.

He said Qatar’s goal was to find common ground between the two countries and help achieve a peaceful solution to the conflict.

Asked about the possibility of a major US military attack on Iran, Al Ansari said Qatar was concerned about any further escalation in the region and was working for a peaceful solution.

According to Qatari officials, several meetings and exchanges of messages have taken place between the US and Iran in recent days. Some contacts also took place during the UN General Assembly in New York, while Qatar continues to facilitate further communication.

The diplomatic efforts come as disagreements over the war and the situation in the Strait of Hormuz remain unresolved. Qatar’s mediation also includes discussions on restoring shipping through the strait, regional security and preventing future escalation.

Al Ansari said obstacles remain in the way of a possible agreement, but Qatar’s mediation aims to reduce differences and help find a solution that can restore peace and stability in the region.

Qatar has also called for a regional security framework based on dialogue, coexistence and avoiding further military action.
