Game of Thrones Movie Aegon’s Conquest Set for June 2029 Release

Games of Thrones’ fans will have to wait a little longer, as the upcoming film Aegon’s Conquest has officially confirmed when it will hit the big screen.

The coming movie will mark the first Game of Thrones movie and is planned to opening in cinemas on June 6, 2029.

The film will be directed by Owen Harris, bringing his experience from A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, with Beau Willimon handling the screenplay.

What will Aegon’s Conquest be about?

The story details are still missing, but it is likely to centre on Aegon I Targaryen and his beating of much of Westeros.

The story will unfold several hundred years, before the timeline explored in the original Game of Thrones series.

The role of Aegon I has not appeared in the franchise so far, with the casting for the role still to be announced.

Aegon’s victory was a significant event in Westerosi history, stablishing Targaryen rule that would continue through generations and eventually lead to Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke.

Owen Harris set to direct

Harris serves as an executive producer on HBO’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and has also directed several episodes of the series.

His previous credits include Black Mirror, the 2019 revival of The Twilight Zone and Brave New World.

Willimon’s previous credits include serving as showrunner on House of Cards and working as part of the writing team for Disney+’s Andor.

Westeros Returns With More Storie

The upcoming film will bring additional story to the Game of Thrones world, which has now prolonged over several television projects.

Game of Thrones, centered on George R.R. Martin’s popular fantasy novels, which aired for eight seasons from 2011 to 2019 and went on to grow into a main hit for HBO.

The series continued with House of the Dragon, explores into the history of the Targaryens whereas A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms shows a story set through a new era of Westeros time.
