47 Taliban Killed, 37 Wounded as Armed Resistance Intensifies Against Taliban Regime in Afghanistan

Armed resistance groups opposing the Taliban have stepped up attacks across several Afghan provinces, with the Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF), Afghanistan United Front (AUF), Afghan Green Trend and National Mobilization Front reporting a series of operations against Taliban personnel and positions.

The AFF said fighting intensified on September 26 in Kamdesh district of Nuristan after Taliban forces attacked its positions using ground troops and drones. The group said its fighters launched a counteroffensive and captured several Taliban checkpoints in parts of Kamdesh and neighbouring Nari district in Kunar.

The AFF said its operations in Kamdesh and Nari killed 37 Taliban personnel and wounded 24 others. These figures have not been independently verified, while Taliban authorities have provided a different account of the clashes and reported casualties among opposition fighters.

The AFF has also released videos that it says show its fighters operating in areas where Taliban checkpoints and villages were captured. The group further alleged that Taliban authorities attempted to portray the situation differently through videos recorded under pressure from local residents.

On September 28, the AFF said it carried out another attack in Faizabad, the capital of Badakhshan province, targeting a vehicle carrying Taliban personnel near the Directorate of Mines. The group said three Taliban members were killed and two others wounded. The incident has also been documented by independent security monitoring sources.

The Afghanistan United Front has separately reported operations against Taliban personnel in Kandahar, Ghor and Badakhshan.

According to the AUF, one Taliban security guard was killed and eight others wounded in an attack on the office of the Taliban governor in Firozkoh, the capital of Ghor province, on September 29.

The group also said it carried out an operation in Kandahar city on September 30 in which a Taliban intelligence officer was killed. A motorcycle and rifle were reportedly seized during the operation.

The AUF further said one Taliban member was killed in an operation in Shah Wali Kot district of Kandahar on September 27.

In another operation claimed by the group, an attack on a Taliban command centre in Daraim district of Badakhshan on September 24 reportedly killed one Taliban member and wounded three others.

Separately, the Afghan Green Trend, led by former Afghan intelligence chief Amrullah Saleh, released details of an operation in Kapisa province. The group said its Green Unit targeted Mullah Abdul Rahman, identified as the Taliban intelligence logistics chief, in Nijrab district.

The National Mobilization Front also claimed responsibility for an ambush against Taliban personnel in Baghlan province on September 28. According to the group, two Taliban fighters were killed in the exchange of fire, while a Kalashnikov rifle and pistol were seized. Security monitoring data also recorded the reported attack and recovery of weapons.

The latest incidents add to a broader pattern of armed opposition activity against the Taliban. A recent UN report said anti-Taliban armed groups had claimed responsibility for 88 attacks across 21 Afghan provinces between May 1 and the end of July.
