Saudi Crown Prince Warns of Decisive Response to Any Threat, Highlights Makkah Defence Pact with Pakistan and Türkiye

RIYADH: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has said Saudi Arabia will not hesitate to respond decisively to any threat or attack aimed at undermining the Kingdom’s security.

Addressing the opening of the Shura Council’s new session, Mohammed bin Salman said the Kingdom was continuing efforts to reduce regional tensions and pursue diplomatic solutions while maintaining its security.

The Saudi Crown Prince also highlighted the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye, saying the pact was established as part of efforts to strengthen regional security and stability. The agreement, signed in August, provides for an armed attack on any one of the three countries to be treated as an attack against all three.

Mohammed bin Salman said Saudi Arabia had also taken the initiative to establish a Multinational Maritime Defence Alliance aimed at strengthening maritime security and protecting international waterways and shared interests.

He said international waterways should not be used as instruments of political or economic pressure and stressed the importance of maintaining the safe flow of essential goods and humanitarian assistance.

On the situation in Palestine, the Crown Prince condemned the ongoing Israeli attacks in Gaza and what he described as continued violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem. He called for international efforts toward a lasting political solution.

Regarding Yemen, Mohammed bin Salman reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s support for the internationally recognised Yemeni government and its efforts to extend state authority, restore stability and confront attacks by the Houthi militia.

The Crown Prince also stressed Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to strengthen regional security, maritime safety and cooperation with partner countries amid continuing tensions in the region.
