One Killed as Under-Construction Red Line Bridge Shuttering Collapses in Karachi

KARACHI: The shuttering of an under-construction bridge near Bait-ul-Mukarram Mosque in Gulshan-e-Iqbal collapsed suddenly on Thursday, killing a security guard at the site.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, emergency teams reached the location shortly after receiving information about the incident and launched a search and rescue operation to locate people who may have been trapped beneath the debris.

Rescue officials confirmed that the deceased was a security guard who was performing duty at the construction site when the structure collapsed.

Police said there was a possibility that additional people could be trapped under the rubble. Rescue teams are continuing efforts to clear the debris and search for anyone who may still be buried.

Authorities are also working to determine the cause of the collapse and whether any safety-related factors contributed to the incident.
