Mir Raza Case: Anyone Found Negligent Will Be Punished, Says Sharjeel Memon

Sharjeel Memon welcomes KP CM Sohail Afridi’s visit to Karachi
Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that anyone found responsible for negligence in the Mir Raza case will face punishment, assuring that the recommendations of the judicial commission will be implemented.
Speaking in Karachi, Memon said the judicial commission had been established under a decision of the Sindh Cabinet. Its report was presented at the cabinet meeting held the previous day.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has formed a committee comprising three senior ministers to examine the findings. The committee includes Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, Saeed Ghani and Nasir Shah.
According to Memon, the committee will review the judicial commission’s report and brief the cabinet on its findings. The government will ensure implementation of the commission’s recommendations.
Memon cautioned against holding the entire department responsible for the actions of an individual, saying that any shortcomings should be assessed on the basis of the facts and the responsibility of those involved.
He also defended the performance of Sindh Police, pointing to its record in solving major criminal cases. Karachi has faced incidents of terrorism, targeted killings and extortion, while similar crimes occur in other parts of Pakistan and around the world.
The senior minister stressed that the police have a responsibility to conduct transparent investigations and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
He described the Mir Raza case as a lesson for the police, emphasising that future investigations should be comprehensive and evidence-based rather than conducted in haste.
The next steps will depend on the committee’s review of the judicial commission’s findings and the action taken by the provincial cabinet.
