Multan Police Arrest Contractor over Death of 15-Year-Old Worker

According to initial police reports, Waseem had been working as an electrician under Tauqeer and was reportedly unhappy with his employer before leaving the job. After failing to catch the boy on foot, the contractor allegedly pursued him in a car accompanied by his friend, Amjad Ali, and struck him. DHA police registered a murder case on behalf of the state and arrested Tauqeer. A police spokesperson said the suspect would be produced before a court on Tuesday and that investigators would submit the formal challan in accordance with the law.

In a separate incident in Multan, a 40-year-old man, Amjad Bashir, died after being arrested in a cheque dishonour case and allegedly while in the custody of Defence police station. Bashir had been named in a first information report over the alleged issuance of a bogus cheque. A police official denied allegations of torture, stating that Bashir’s health deteriorated suddenly and he was taken to a local hospital, where he died. The official attributed the death to a heart attack and said a medical examination found no evidence of physical violence.
