Chicken and egg prices increase as govt sets new rates

ISLAMABAD: Chicken and egg prices have increased above the officially fixed rates in the city, adding to pressure on consumers.

According to a report, the official price of broiler meat is Rs490 per kilogram, but it is being sold for up to Rs530 per kilogram in the open market.

Similarly, eggs are officially priced at Rs264 per dozen, while traders are selling them for up to Rs280.

Shopkeepers have reportedly ignored the official price list, prompting citizens to call on the administration to take action against overcharging.

Citizens have also urged the authorities to ensure that official prices are enforced and provide relief to consumers.
