Pezeshkian Says Iran Will Pursue Talks While Maintaining Resistance

08 October, 2026 09:29

TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said Tehran will continue negotiations to protect the rights of the Iranian people while maintaining its resistance amid the ongoing conflict.

Addressing a cabinet meeting, Pezeshkian said Iran was facing what he described as an “all-out war in all dimensions”, but would continue dialogue from what he called a position of dignity and strength.

He said Iran would pursue negotiations while continuing its resistance programme and maintaining its resolve in the face of pressure.

Pezeshkian described national unity and domestic cohesion as essential to overcoming the challenges facing the country.

He said strengthening cooperation, solidarity and public confidence would be important for maintaining Iran’s resilience during the current crisis.

The Iranian president also called for stronger multilateral engagement with neighbouring countries, saying Tehran was working with them to address some of its needs.

At the same time, he stressed that Iran’s main priority remained reliance on domestic capabilities, cooperation and national unity.

His comments came as diplomatic efforts to end the conflict continue alongside heightened military tensions in the region.
