Iqrar ul Hassan Sent on Four-Day Physical Remand by Karachi Court

13 October, 2026 13:01

A Karachi court has granted the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) four days of physical remand of Awam Raj Tehreek chief Iqrar ul Hassan in a case registered against him, according to details of the proceedings.

Iqrar ul Hassan was presented before the court of a judicial magistrate in the eastern district at Karachi’s City Court. The NCCIA investigation team requested his physical remand to question him and obtain further information related to the case.

During the hearing, the magistrate asked Iqrar ul Hassan whether he had been subjected to physical violence while in custody. He told the court that he had not been beaten, according to the account of the proceedings.

The magistrate also asked whether he was represented by a lawyer. Iqrar ul Hassan responded that he had not yet appointed legal counsel.

The investigating officer requested a 14-day physical remand, maintaining that investigators needed additional time to conduct a detailed inquiry and obtain information from the accused. After hearing the arguments, the court approved four days of physical remand and handed him over to the NCCIA for further investigation.

The case has been registered under FIR No. 101/2026. According to the information presented in connection with the proceedings, the case concerns allegations of actions intended to harm the state and national integrity.

The court’s decision authorises investigators to question Iqrar ul Hassan during the remand period. It does not, by itself, establish the allegations against him or determine his guilt. Any findings arising from the investigation would have to be considered through the relevant legal process.

The four-day period is shorter than the 14 days requested by the investigating officer. Investigators are expected to continue examining the circumstances surrounding the case and gather information relevant to the allegations.

The available details did not specify the full evidence presented by the prosecution or provide further information about the events that led to the registration of the FIR. A detailed response from Iqrar ul Hassan or his legal representative to the allegations was also not included in the account of the hearing.

The case will continue through the relevant legal proceedings, with further developments depending on the investigation and subsequent court orders.
