Report Raises Questions Over Alleged Misuse of 23 Government Vehicles by KP PTI Members

14 October, 2026 12:38

A report has raised questions over the alleged possession and personal use of 23 government-owned vehicles by members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, prompting concerns about the use of public resources and accountability within the provincial government.

According to the information provided, several PTI lawmakers and local government representatives were found to be using vehicles belonging to the provincial government. The list includes Toyota Revo pickups, Toyota Corolla and Yaris sedans, Toyota Fortuner SUVs, a Honda Civic and other vehicles.

The allegations concern members of the provincial assembly, members of the National Assembly and local government officials. However, the underlying documents, vehicle allocation records and official responses were not included in the information provided, and the allegations could not be independently verified.

Names and vehicles mentioned in the report

The report identifies PTI MNA Sohail Sultan as having a Toyota Yaris, while MPAs Sharafat and Malik Shafiullah Khan were reportedly using government-owned Toyota Revo vehicles.

Other lawmakers named in connection with Toyota Revo vehicles include MPA Azam Khan, MPA Ubaid-ur-Rehman and MNA Mehboob Shah. MPA Liaquat Khan was reportedly using a government Toyota Corolla, while MPA Abdul Muneem and Shangla Zakat Committee chairman Zaidullah were associated with Toyota Revo vehicles.

The list also names MPA Fakhar Jahan in connection with a Toyota Grande, MPA Abdul Kabir with a Toyota Revo and Riaz Khan with a Honda Civic.

MPAs Anwar Khan and Yamin Khan were reportedly using Toyota Revo vehicles, while MPA Fazal Hakeem was linked to a Toyota Fortuner.

Dr Israr Mohmand, an MPA from Peshawar Division, was reportedly associated with both a Toyota Fortuner and a Toyota Vigo. In Kohat Division, MPAs Dawood and Shah Tarab were named in connection with Toyota GLI vehicles.

The report further states that MPA Zarshad from Mardan Division was using three government vehicles: a Toyota Corolla, a Toyota Vigo and a Suzuki Cultus. The tehsil chairman of Swabi was reportedly using a Toyota Yaris.

Questions over public resources and accountability

The central question is whether these vehicles were officially allocated for authorised government duties or retained and used for personal purposes without proper approval.

Government vehicles are generally provided to eligible officials for specified public responsibilities, subject to applicable rules and administrative controls. Their unauthorised use, if established, could raise questions about compliance with government procedures and the stewardship of public assets.

Establishing whether a violation occurred would require examining official vehicle registers, allocation orders, logbooks, fuel and maintenance records, and the rules governing the use of government transport.

The provincial government and the relevant departments could clarify the matter by publishing verified allocation records and explaining whether the named officials were authorised to use the vehicles.

The allegations highlight the importance of transparent management of public assets and consistent accountability for elected representatives and government officials, regardless of political affiliation.
