Foreign Journalist Says KP Remained in Grip of Terrorism During PTI Rule
Foreign journalist Caitlin Doornbos has commented that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remained affected by terrorism during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.
Doornbos said that despite terrorist attacks, the PTI founder took no action against the Afghan Taliban and Fitna al-Khawarij, also known as the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
She said terrorist attacks continued in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during PTI’s tenure, but the issue was largely ignored.
According to Caitlin, Fitna al-Khawarij (TTP) has been carrying out attacks across Pakistan, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, from Afghan territory.
She said Pakistan targeted terrorists in Afghanistan in September who were carrying out attacks against Pakistan. Doornbos added that despite Pakistan’s demands, the Afghan Taliban refused to take action against terrorists using Afghan soil to launch attacks.
International affairs experts say PTI’s policy towards the Taliban created obstacles to counterterrorism efforts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They also questioned the policy of allowing the situation to continue despite terrorist activities originating from Afghan territory.
The statements and assessments in this report are attributed to the journalist and international affairs experts.
