Punjab Child Protection Bureau Ensures a Brighter Future for Vulnerable Children
The Punjab Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) is playing an important role in protecting and caring for vulnerable children across Punjab. It is one of Pakistan’s largest and most organised institutions working for child protection and welfare.
The bureau operates in 17 districts of Punjab. Its main aim is to provide care, education and training to vulnerable children and help them become productive members of society.
Recently, a child under the bureau’s care joined the Pakistan Army after receiving training and support from the institution.
A girl living at the bureau said children are taught different skills, including cooking, sewing and graphic design, to help them build a better future and live independently.
The bureau works to provide care, training and welfare services to around 10,000 children every year. It also makes arrangements for their marriages to help them move towards independent lives with dignity.
CPWB Chairperson Sarah Ahmed said the bureau was playing an important role in caring for and supporting children without parental care.
Australian High Commissioner Timothy Kane praised the facilities at the child protection centre. He said the children appeared confident, happy and healthy and were receiving excellent care.
The Punjab Child Protection and Welfare Bureau is working to improve the lives of vulnerable children and serves as a model for other provinces in Pakistan.
