PM Shehbaz Says Emergency in KP Was Imposed Out of Necessity

Speaking on national and provincial affairs, Shehbaz Sharif said he had made serious efforts to convey that the federal government was ready to support the development and prosperity of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said he had assured the former chief minister of the province of every possible cooperation for its progress, adding that the government had been compelled to impose an emergency in KP under the prevailing circumstances. He also acknowledged the immense sacrifices made by the province’s people in the fight against terrorism.
The prime minister criticized sit-ins, saying they paralyzed the country’s functioning, and accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of repeatedly attempting to harm the country. He further observed that the consequences of war in Gulf countries were affecting the wider region, while rising inflation was placing pressure on countries across the region. His remarks highlighted the government’s concerns over security, political instability and mounting economic challenges.
