Army major martyred, four terrorists killed in Kalat, Gwadar operations; ISPR

Four terrorists were killed during intelligence-based operations in Balochistan’s Qalat and Gwadar districts, while Pakistan Army Major Wajahat Waheed was martyred in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast during a clearance operation in Pasni, the military said.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), intelligence agencies had identified the presence of multiple hideouts linked to Fitna al-Hindustan in Jatakabad, Qalat, and Shadi Kor in Gwadar’s Pasni tehsil. The locations were described as posing a threat to the local population.
On October 18, 2026, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Jatakabad, Qalat. During the operation, the reported terrorist hideout was effectively targeted, resulting in an intense exchange of fire in which four terrorists were killed.
A large quantity of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the area, according to ISPR.
Separately, a clearance operation was underway in Shadi Kor, Pasni, to eliminate terrorists and secure the area when a security forces team was targeted with an IED.
Major Wajahat Waheed, who was leading the team, was martyred in the blast. The 34-year-old officer was from Lahore and lost his life while performing his duties in defence of the country.
ISPR said clearance and sanitisation operations would continue until the remaining terrorists in the area were eliminated.
The military added that counterterrorism operations would continue with full force under the National Action Plan and the federal Apex Committee’s vision of Azm-e-Istehkam.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the security forces for killing four terrorists in the Qalat and Gwadar operations. He also paid tribute to Major Wajahat Waheed and expressed condolences to his family.
The prime minister said the country would continue its efforts to eliminate what he described as foreign-sponsored terrorism under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework.
