Dr Abdullah Abdullah meets PM Imran Khan in Islamabad

Dr Abdullah Abdullah meets PM Imran Khan and speaker NA – National Assembly Asad Qaiser in Islamabad.

While describing his meeting with Chairman of High Council for National Reconciliation of Afghanistan Dr Abdullah Abdullah as “interesting”, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday stressed for learning from the past concerning the Afghan situation instead of living in.

“We had a very interesting conversation: theme being the past is an invaluable teacher to learn from but not to live in,” the prime minister remarked on Twitter about his meeting with Dr Abdullah Abdullah.

He said he had enjoyed meeting with Dr Abdullah Abdullah, who was on three-day visit to Pakistan from September 28-30.

“We must look forward towards the future. I wish him all the success in his mission,” he added.

Meanwhile, in his recent meeting with Abdullah Abdullah, the Chair of Afghanistan’s High Council for National Reconciliation, the Speaker underscored the value of CPEC and CAREC trade and infrastructure linkages for Afghanistan and Pakistan.

It was agreed in the meeting of Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser with him that all efforts would be undertaken for the mutual benefit of the people of Afghanistan and Pakistan. Issues of Pakistani prisoners in Afghan jails and visa problems for Pakistanis wishing to visit Afghanistan were also raised during the meeting.

The landmark initiative of to improve Pak-Afghan trade relations and people to people contacts had started bearing fruit.

On Tuesday, the cabinet approved a new and highly liberal visa policy for Afghanistan owing to Speaker’s hectic efforts.

The new visa policy took a people centric approach and was highly facilitative for ordinary visitors, students, businessmen and medical patients.
