PM IK and Bill Gates express concern over health system in Afghanistan.
Prime Minister Imran Khan and co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates held a telephonic conversation.
They discussed importance of resumption of polio campaigns in Afghanistan to stop the disease and protect Pakistan’s recent gains towards ending polio.

Imran Khan highlighted that more than half of the population in Afghanistan was living below poverty line. He noted they remain in dire need of financial assistance.
Furthermore, he asked Bill Gates to consider providing humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.
Meanwhile, he also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to end all forms of polio in Pakistan.
The Prime Minister said the country has reported only one case of wild poliovirus this year.
He hailed progress against polio virus as positive.
Meanwhile, Bill Gates praised progress towards polio eradication.
He pledged his continued support to Pakistan’s polio program for ensuring that no child in the country remain at risk of paralysis due to polio virus.
Meanwhile, President Dr Arif Alvi will inaugurate the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) program today (Wednesday).
The program aims to impart training in the said fields to the students.
The Ministry of Science and Technology will launch this pilot project in fifty government higher secondary schools.
