Toyota Vitz price drop in Pakistan after import duty changes

The government has reduced import duties in the new budget for the fiscal year 2025, which will bring down the prices of imported vehicles, including popular models like the Toyota Vitz.

Under the new structure, the total duty on cars with 1.3 to 1.5-liter engines (like the Vitz) has been reduced from 174% to 165%. This includes a 1% cut in Additional Customs Duty (ACD) and a 5% cut in Regulatory Duty (RD).

Because of this change, the prices of used Toyota Vitz cars have dropped.

The government issued new SROs (Statutory Regulatory Orders) to update the import duty structure. The goal is to reduce the tax burden on consumers while still maintaining revenue for the country.

RD on SUVs (1801–3000cc) reduced from 90% to 40%
RD on small cars (under 1800cc) and hybrid vehicles reduced from 15% to 10%
Non-hybrid vehicles got the biggest relief, with up to 16% reduction
Mid-sized cars (1301–1800cc) saw smaller cuts of 4–5%
Hybrid cars got moderate relief of about 2.7%
Commercial vehicles like pickups and vans also saw small duty cuts

This move is expected to bring relief for car buyers facing high inflation and help make imported cars a bit more affordable despite the weak Pakistani rupee.
