Electric bike prices rise by Rs5,000 in Pakistan after petrol hike

04 April, 2026 15:28

KARACHI: A local electric bike company has increased the prices of its e-bikes due to higher expenses and rising fuel prices.

In a statement, the company said that shipping costs by sea have gone up. Transport costs from Karachi port to factories have also increased. In addition, delivering bikes to dealers is now more expensive. All these factors have raised the overall cost of production.

The company also said that the recent rise in petroleum prices has put extra pressure on its budget. Because of this, it is not possible for the company to bear the extra costs on its own.

As a result, all models of Metro e-bikes will now cost Rs5,000 more. This new price is effective immediately.

The increase will apply to all orders placed after April 3. Dealers have been told to collect the extra amount along with the current price.

Earlier this week, the government sharply increased petroleum prices. Petrol was raised to Rs458.41 per litre, while high-speed diesel reached Rs520.35 per litre.

This was a big jump compared to March, when petrol was Rs321.17 per litre and diesel was Rs335.86 per litre. Petrol increased by over Rs137, while diesel went up by more than Rs184 per litre.

However, the prime minister later reduced the petroleum levy by Rs80 per litre, bringing the new petrol price down to Rs378 per litre.
