Nishat Motors to Launch New Hybrid Vehicle in Pakistan
Nishat Motors is gearing up to introduce the JAECOO J5 in Pakistan, expanding its lineup after an aggressive series of launches earlier this year. The company made its entry into the Pakistani market in August with two electric SUVs—the JAECOO J6 and OMODA E5—followed by the locally assembled JAECOO J7 PHEV in October.
The upcoming J5 is also expected to be a locally assembled model. As per early details, the vehicle will feature a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine combined with a hybrid powertrain, positioning it as a direct competitor to the Haval Jolion HEV in Pakistan’s increasingly active hybrid crossover segment.
While the hybrid J5 has yet to be introduced internationally, global plans for a 2026 launch in South Africa indicate that Pakistan may be among the first markets to receive the hybrid variant.
To anticipate what Pakistani buyers can expect, the specifications of the international 1.5-liter turbo model offer useful insight. The vehicle measures 4380 mm in length, 1860 mm in width, 1650 mm in height, and boasts a 2620 mm wheelbase. It delivers 156 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque, and comes equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels.
Safety offerings on the global model include six airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, a 540-degree camera system, and TPMS. Convenience features include leather upholstery, powered front seats, a moonroof, power tailgate, dual-zone climate control, and a 13.2-inch infotainment system supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Given Nishat Motors’ history of competitive pricing with earlier models, auto analysts expect a similar approach for the J5. However, the final pricing will ultimately determine how well the J5 performs in Pakistan’s rapidly expanding hybrid crossover market.
