Punjab E-Bike Scheme 2026: How to apply, eligibility, and installment for govt employees
LAHORE: Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz has approved a new e-bike project for govt employees, allowing them to get electric bikes on easy installments.
The decision was made during a high-level meeting on the transport sector. Several important projects were discussed to improve travel facilities and promote eco-friendly transport across the province.
It was decided that new electric buses will be introduced in 10 districts of Punjab, including Attock, Bhakkar, Hafizabad, Khanewal, Layyah, and Sheikhupura.
The official said 100 e-buses land this month, with a total of 714 by June. She wants a full plan for 1,500 e-buses at the tehsil level, plus dedicated depots in every division for charging and fixes.
The meeting was told that more than 1.25 million passengers have already benefited from the free transport service running on 21 routes.
Maryam Nawaz also reviewed progress on mass transit projects in Gujranwala and Faisalabad. She directed authorities to complete metro bus stations quickly and approved a new design for them.
In addition, Punjab’s making history with its first eco-taxi service – vehicles arriving in May and June under the e-taxi launch.
