Who Is Pratim Bora? Archita Phukan’s Ex-Boyfriend Behind the AI Babydoll Archi Controversy
Dibrugarh, Assam: A disturbing case of cyberbullying has shocked Assam’s social media community. Pratim Bora, a resident of Tinsukia and reportedly the ex-boyfriend of influencer Archita Phukan, was arrested for creating a fake social media profile under her name using AI-generated images.
What Did Pratim Bora Do?
According to the police, Pratim Bora created a false Instagram account impersonating Archita Phukan, also known online as Babydoll Archi. He used old photos from her actual social media and altered them using AI software, making them appear inappropriate.
The most damaging content included digitally manipulated pictures pairing Archita with adult film celebrities, including one morphed alongside Kendra Lust.
How the Crime Was Discovered
The fake content began spreading online, and Archita’s friends and followers quickly noticed. Concerned about the viral nature of the posts, her brother filed a complaint with the Dibrugarh police.
A cybercrime unit was assigned to investigate. Authorities tracked digital footprints from IP addresses and mobile network data. Bora initially went into hiding, but he was eventually found in a rented flat in Tinsukia and taken into custody.
Why Did He Do It?
During questioning, Bora reportedly confessed. He said he acted out of frustration and anger after breaking up with Archita. His actions, police say, were motivated by revenge.
What Was Seized?
The police confiscated Bora’s phone and laptop. These devices are now being examined by cyber forensic experts. Investigators believe advanced AI tools were used to generate the fake content — raising bigger concerns about the misuse of technology for online harassment.
Legal Action Against Bora
An FIR has been filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) — India’s updated criminal law. Additional charges are also expected under the Information Technology (IT) Act.
These include:
-
Cyber harassment
-
Impersonation through electronic means
-
Online defamation
-
Violation of privacy
Bora is currently in police custody and will be presented before a court soon.
Police Message to Citizens
Authorities are urging the public to stay alert and report cyberbullying or fake profiles. They also emphasized the importance of digital safety and awareness in today’s world where AI tools can be misused.
