Who Is Chloe Sarwie? Teenage Star Debuts for Chelsea in Europe Against FC Twente
Chloe Sarwie, one of Chelsea academy’s brightest prospects, is quickly making a name for herself in women’s football. At just 16 years old, Sarwie has yet to sign her first professional contract with the Blues, though that milestone appears imminent.
The teenager made her first-team debut for Chelsea on Wednesday in the Champions League, coming on as a substitute for goalscorer Sandy Baltimore. Chelsea’s match ended in a draw, marking back-to-back dropped points for the first time since 2024. Despite the result, Sarwie impressed during her 20 minutes on the pitch, showing her ability to contribute both defensively and offensively from her position on the left side of defence—a trait Chelsea coach Sonia Bompastor clearly trusts.
Potential Record-Breaking Professional Contract
Sarwie could soon make history at Chelsea. If she signs a professional contract before December, she would surpass Lola Brown as the youngest player to sign with Chelsea Women. Brown signed her deal at 17 years old in November of last year. A deal for Sarwie would cement her status as the club’s youngest ever professional signing.
Looking Ahead for Sarwie
Wednesday’s game marked Sarwie’s first inclusion in Chelsea’s matchday squad this season. While she may not see extensive first-team action in the coming months, she is expected to gain valuable experience as she approaches her 17th birthday. Chelsea face Tottenham this weekend in an attempt to end their winless streak, and Sarwie could be involved following her promising Champions League performance.
In addition to her club involvement, Sarwie has already represented England at the youth level, featuring for both the under-17 and under-19 teams.
