Authorities say Spencer forced Fosler’s car off the road and then shot him. He was later charged with second-degree murder.

In a recent Facebook video, Spencer explained why he is entering law enforcement.

“I’m the father who acted to protect his daughter when the system failed,” he said. “I refuse to stand by while others face these same failures.”

He added that his campaign is not about seeking sympathy but about protecting families who no longer trust the system.

Spencer announced his candidacy for Lonoke County Sheriff. He said his goal is to restore public trust in law enforcement and ensure that families feel safe.

“This campaign isn’t about me; it’s about every parent, every neighbor, every family who deserves to feel safe,” Spencer stated.

Spencer’s wife, Heather, launched an online fundraiser after his arrest. She said their daughter had been “targeted, groomed and ultimately raped” by a family friend’s boyfriend.

She defended her husband, calling the charges against him “outrageous.”

“The monster who hurt our child was charged quickly, but released even faster on a $50k bond,” Heather wrote. “My child would not have come home if my husband hadn’t found her.”

Upcoming Court Dates

Aaron Spencer is expected to appear in court on December 16, 2025, for a pre-trial hearing. His full trial is scheduled to begin on January 26, 2026.
