Govt vows not to increase gas prices in winter

21 August, 2024 12:24

Federal Minister for Petroleum Musadik Malik has said that there will be no change in gas prices for the next three months.

At a press conference, Malik said that the current gas prices will remain unchanged for the winter season – from December and January, as part of the government’s efforts to reduce the financial burden on the people.

The minister said that there has been no increase in gas prices and the government is committed not to impose any additional expenditure on the citizens.

He emphasised that any relief measures would be implemented in consultation with all provinces, if required.

Musadik Malik said that the Punjab government will provide relief of Rs14 per unit to consumers consuming up to 500 units of electricity, which will cover 98 percent of the households.

He said that earlier the federal government had announced a subsidy of Rs50 billion for consumers using up to 200 units across the country.

Malik urged the political leaders to refrain from spreading chaos and play a constructive role in parliamentary committees.
