KSE-100 Index Falls Nearly 2,700 Points as PSX Decline Continues
The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) faced another sharp decline on Thursday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index falling nearly 2,700 points.
At the close of trading, the index settled at 171,739.44 points, down 2,690.48 points or 1.54%.
Selling pressure was seen across major sectors, including commercial banks, fertilizer companies, oil and gas exploration firms, oil marketing companies, power companies and refineries.
The market has been under pressure due to rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and concerns over higher global oil prices. These developments have made investors cautious and increased selling in major stocks.
Meanwhile, international oil prices rose more than 1.5% on Thursday, with Brent crude reaching $96 per barrel and WTI rising to $88.27 per barrel. The increase followed fresh US strikes on Iran and attacks on oil tankers in the Red Sea, raising concerns about possible disruptions to global energy supplies.
