SIFC Reviews Health and Pharma Reforms, Focus on Local Production and Exports

The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has reviewed progress on key reforms and development initiatives in Pakistan’s health and pharmaceutical sectors, with a focus on local production, investment and export potential.
A meeting chaired jointly by the Federal Minister for Health and the Director General of SIFC examined progress on several priority initiatives aimed at strengthening domestic healthcare and pharmaceutical capabilities.
According to the government, the meeting discussed indigenous vaccine production, the plasma fractionation project and the formulation of a national health policy package.
Officials also reviewed the rollout of the drug track-and-trace system and measures to expand the export potential of Pakistan’s health sector.
Representatives from the Ministry of National Health Services, DRAP, DESTO, PN&MC, NIH and the Ministry of Commerce participated in the meeting.
The SIFC said the initiatives are intended to strengthen domestic manufacturing, promote technology development and value addition, attract investment and improve the international competitiveness of Pakistan’s health and pharmaceutical industry.
